Woodland parties
Explore the outdoors as you celebrate your birthday with a choice of three activities.
Enjoy den building, woodland arts and crafts, or a scavenger hunt: all of the equipment and instructions will be provided and the hosting parent or family can lead the fun.
After 45 minutes of exploring, our instructor will join your group, to light a fire in the wood for everyone to enjoy s’mores and a rendition of happy birthday! S’mores and squash will be provided but if you wish to bring a cold buffet, benches can be provided within the shelter for a rustic picnic.

- Duration: 2 hours, including arrival and departure
- Maximum group size: 16 party goers (adult supervisors are additional to this number)
- Includes exclusive hire of the forest shelter. You can use this space however you wish. The space includes benches and a table should you wish to serve your party food, play games and open presents. If the weather is kind, you can also use the grassy area outside the shelter.
- Includes: items to make s'mores, and squash
- Supervision: For children aged 4+, a minimum ratio of 1 adult to 5 children is required. Any children accompanying the party that are under 4 must be supervised by an additional parent/carer. Additional adults to these ratios are welcome.

Adventurous parties
For older children and adults, you may prefer something more adventurous to celebrate another trip around the sun. Choose from one of our instructor-led activities and enjoy refreshments together in one of our hard shelters.
Select one of the following: archery, bushcraft, zip wire, low ropes or pistols.
Your group will enjoy an hour at your chosen activity, plus the safety briefing, before returning to the shelter for refreshments supplied by you.

- Suitable for birthday celebrants age 8 and upward, including adults. (Pistols aged 10+, zip wire under 18 only)
- Duration: 2.5 hours, including arrival and departure
- Maximum group size: 12 party goers (adult supervisors are additional to this number)
- Excludes: Food and refreshments
- Supervision: A minimum of 2 adults must supervise children's parties and accompany them during the activity (they do not need to take part). Additional adults can decorate the shelter or set up refreshments for the group's return.
- Costs: The cost of the party depends on the adventurous activity you choose:
- Archery or bushcraft; £210
- Zip wire, low ropes or pistols: £240
Indoor parties
Our assembly hall can be hired for any occasion for groups of up to 40. This can be booked on its own, or in addition to a woodland or adventurous party. As the venue's primary use is for residential visits across the weekend, the hall can be booked on Sundays from 3pm, or on a Friday evening when there is a Saturday-Sunday sleepover booked for the rest of the weekend.
The hall is big enough to facilitate external services, such as discos, bouncy castles or soft play, but please express your intentions at the time of booking and adhere to the times of hire, which should include any set up and packing away times.
The halls’ catering facilities are perfect if you’d like to serve your own hot meal (range cooker, fridge, plates and cutlery included) and there are plenty of tables and chairs to seat a party of up to 40.
The hall is fully accessible, with accessible facilities, and is a great space to host family parties, retirement events, and more.

Additional information for all parties
What to wear
Both children and adults should wear clothing appropriate for the weather conditions and environment. Layered clothing is best for warmth and flexibility. Footwear should be sturdy such as trainers or hiking boots. Thermal socks, gloves and hats are also good ideas and waterproofs for rain and mud. In warmer weather consider sun cream and sun hats.
Spare clothes are a good idea as well as a bag to put dirty clothes in for the homeward journey. We don’t have group changing room facilities but toilet facilities will be available to your group for the time of your event.
For adventurous parties, there will also be specific information to help keep you safe, eg for some activities wellies are not appropriate, or you may need hair tied back.

Adverse weather
We are an outdoor activity centre and as such we encourage visitors to plan and prepare for their outdoor adventure. The majority of our activities can continue in the rain or cold weather.
However, high winds and lightening may impact our ability to deliver you party as planned. If this is the case, we will notify you as soon as possible. We may be able to offer an alternative activity or we have to cancel or postpone your party.
